A few weeks ago I wrote a couple of blog posts around pandemic burnout and how to survive this winter. Today I want to share a few activities to look forward to this winter while we socially distance and stay warm.
Here are some activities to look forward this winter:
Take an online class
For me learning is always something that motivates me. This year has been very busy, and I have not been able to take as many trainings as I would have liked to, so during the winter break one thing that is on my list is to sign up for an online class. There are so many options to choose from! From personal development and leadership to cooking, photography or yoga.
Clean and organize your house
We have been spending more time at home and if you are like me, trying to juggle work, kids, school, and all the things there is little time to keep all the things clean and in order. Since we’ve all been spending more time inside, why not make your living environment as enjoyable as possible? Take control of clutter and optimize your space. Not only will doing so likely offer a sense of accomplishment, but studies have shown an organized living area can positively impact productivity.
Host a virtual Holiday Party
While we might not be able to get physically together it doesn't mean we can't get together to celebrate the Holidays. Yes, sharing the same physical space is nice but is not what brings us closet together. You can actually share the same physical space and feel you are miles apart, but the same is true on the reverse; you can be miles apart and feel closer together than ever. Plan a virtual get together to connect with your family and friends, create an avenue to connect and celebrate together.
Reading a good book
I am all for a good book! here are some recommendations if you don't know what to read next.
Self-refect on the lessons learned this year
I believe in the power of self-reflection. I think that self-reflection is key for personal growth, and what a better time to invest some time doing some self-reflection than now. As we approach the end of the year is a great opportunity to look back at 2020 and reflect on our accomplishment, our challenges and lessons learned.
Plan for the New Year ahead
As we approach the New Year is a great opportunity to take some time to think about our goals for 2021. Here are some tools and templates that can help you in that process.
DIY spa at home
Create a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home. Here are some of my favorite products to have a spa-like experience form the comfort of home.
Start a meditation practice
Let’s face it, we could all use a little more zen in our lives. Headspace and Glo both offer programs for first-time meditators where you can learn basics like how to sit and where to place your attention
Try a new workout or enroll on a virtual boot camp
I truly believe that moving your body changes your mood. Get those endorphins going with an online workout class. You can choose from a variety of options at your fingertips, whether it’s yoga, barre, HIIT, Pilates, kickboxing, dance, strength training and more. I wrote a blog post earlier in the year where I shared some options. You can even join a virtual boot camp.
Add a new podcast to your list
I personally love to listen to podcast, and I am always on the look for new podcast to add to my playlist. You can find podcast on almost any topic you can think about and they are all free. If you haven't got into the podcast train, this might be a great time to jump in. Of course I am bias but I would recommend subscribing to the Leading Yourself Podcast.
Plan your next vacation
Feels like it has been forever since we've been able to travel and enjoy a real vacation. While we might still need to wait a few months to be able to travel freely, this might be a great time to start planning your next vacation.
Try a new recipe or take a cooking class online
If you enjoy cooking or if you've always wanted to learn how to cook, this might be a great time to try a new recipe or join an online cooking class. There are plenty out there to choose from depending on what you’re interested in learning – whether you’re an aspiring Cake Boss, curious in expanding your gluten-free goodie recipes, or want to be taught from some of the best talent out there á la Wolfgang Puck’s Masterclass.
